Reflection for David: How does your voice % compare to those of your teammates?
Communication Analysis
David demonstrates effective communication skills in terms of clarity and conciseness. He is able to express his ideas and convey information clearly to his teammates. However, there are moments where he could improve his clarity by avoiding unnecessary repetition or filler words. For example, he sometimes interrupts the flow of the conversation by repeating himself or using filler words like "wait, wait, wait" or "like this" multiple times. Overall, David's communication is generally clear and to the point, allowing his teammates to understand his intentions and objectives.
David actively listens to his teammates and responds thoughtfully. He acknowledges and confirms their suggestions or requests, indicating that he is engaged in the conversation. He demonstrates attentiveness and interest in what his teammates are saying. However, there are moments where he might interrupt or shift the focus of the conversation without fully considering his teammates' perspectives such as when he says "Well, I'm going to do this". It would be helpful for David to practice more active listening by allowing his teammates to fully express their thoughts before interjecting. Nonetheless, his active engagement shows that he values his teammates' input and is willing to contribute to the team's goals.
While David demonstrates the ability to ask effective questions to gather information and clarify tasks, he could enhance the conversation by asking more open-ended questions that encourage discussion and prompt his teammates to share their ideas or perspectives. This would promote deeper discussions and allow for more diverse input from the team. Additionally, there are opportunities for David to ask for clarification or seek further information, which would contribute to better understanding among the team members. By utilizing more open-ended questions and seeking clarification when necessary, David can facilitate more dynamic conversations within the team.
In terms of empathy and perspective-taking, David displays signs of empathy by apologizing when he interrupts or makes mistakes. He also shows gratitude and acknowledges his teammates' contributions such as when he says "Thank you all for your support". These actions contribute to a positive and inclusive environment. However, there are instances where he might prioritize his own ideas and strategies without fully valuing the input of his teammates. Strengthening his ability to integrate different perspectives and actively promote inclusivity would contribute to a more harmonious and cooperative team dynamic.
Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors.
