You've been around Synthesis Teams for a while, so you know that good teamwork means more than just participating in the game and communicating with your teammates.
It involves cooperative planning, coordinating roles, and shared decision-making. It's about including everyone and checking in on progress toward the team's goals.
This month, we'll take a closer look at these important aspects of teamwork as we examine your
goal-oriented collaboration skills.
Zhengyang, here's what we observed about your teamwork skills during Play: You show a great willingness to participate and support your team, evident in your enthusiastic expressions like "Fireball fireball fireball fireball!" and affirming statements such as, "I love you all." Your energy is a real boost for team morale, which is essential. Why does this matter? It creates a positive environment where everyone feels supported and motivated. You've made strides in expressing your involvement, but there's room for growth in strategic planning and decision-making. You often react in the moment, like when you said, "I'm not sure how I'll hold on to this," which indicates an opportunity to engage more actively in discussions about team roles and strategies. In future games, try suggesting specific roles or objectives for yourself and your teammates, such as, "Let's all focus on building a temple next," to steer the team toward shared goals. Keep up the enthusiasm, and remember that clearer strategic input can significantly enhance your team's collective effectiveness.
Observations based on your participation in Play sessions in 3 of the past 4 weeks.
On your journey to make any team you join better, you'll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways.
Last week's theme was
"I, Robot,"
inspired by Isaac Asimov's 1950 book. The premise: robots must follow rules to protect humans and themselves. The problem: sometimes, robots get confused. Each scenario this week imagines an ethical decision around robot-human relations. Of course, there are no right or wrong answers. It's just science fiction. For now.
Communication in Discussions Sessions
Speaking % in Zhengyang's Discussion session last week.
Reflection for Zhengyang: What does balanced communication look like?
Zhengyang, here¡¯s what we noticed about your communication during last week's Discussion session: Your wonderful listening skills shine through your supportive comments like ¡°Wait¡± and ¡°Thank you for sharing,¡± which show that you are actively engaged in conversations. This positivity and attention help your teammates feel valued and appreciated. To keep developing your communication skills, consider trying to share more of your own ideas during discussions. For example, when you say ¡°Hmm, yeah,¡± think about adding a personal thought or asking a teammate's view like, "What do you think about that?" This will not only help keep the conversation lively but also encourage more back-and-forth dialogue. Keep up the great work in making your teammates feel heard, and by expanding on your contributions, you'll help the group even more!
Anyone who's on the path toward becoming a Supercollaborator is able to keep improving their skills and making course corrections. We look forward to seeing you at future Play + Discussion sessions, and we'll continue giving you feedback on your teamwork and communication skills.
