Monthly Feedback Report for Charley
It's
Hyperball time, and this week, the maps are intentionally
unfair. When your team has the advantage, will you become complacent? When your team is at a disadvantage, can you work as a group to overcome adversity¡ªand will that give you the best chance to grow?

You¡¯ve been around Synthesis Teams long enough to know that good
communication means more than just talking to your teammates.
It¡¯s about being thoughtful in the
way we communicate: using
teammates¡¯ names, being clear and specific, and asking clarifying
questions. It¡¯s about speaking up
and responding to others.
This month, we¡¯ll take a closer look at these important aspects of
teamwork as we examine your
productive communication skills.
Charley, here's what we observed about your teamwork skills during Play: One thing you did especially well was showing strategic intent by encouraging your teammates with tasks like ¡°You guys will take these two plus these two, and we¡¯ll take these.¡± This shows your strength in assigning roles and maintaining a clear focus on goals. You also did a great job taking initiative, as seen when you said, ¡°I will need you to destroy a couple of tiles on Tetra here,¡± demonstrating readiness to guide the team toward success. A next step could be to enhance your involvement in strategic planning by offering more evidence-based suggestions during discussions. This could ensure all team efforts are better aligned and more effective. Why is this important? Engaging in deeper strategic dialogue with your teammates can lead to stronger teamwork and a more unified path to reaching your goals!
Observations based on your participation in Play sessions in 3 of the past 4 weeks.
On your journey to make any team you join better, you'll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways.
Last week's theme was
"Look on the Bright Side?" Students explored the trade-offs between optimism (a focus on potential benefits) and pessimism (a focus on potential problems). Because life has both rewards and setbacks, it¡¯s important for students to be aware enough ¡ª and agile enough ¡ª to look through each perspective when needed.
No right or wrong answers. Just interesting conversations with kids from around the world.

Reflection for Charley: What does balanced communication look like?
Productive communication and effective teamwork go hand in hand. Because you were unable to attend a Discussion session last week, we can¡¯t provide a current analysis of your strengths and areas for growth in your communication skills. To ensure our feedback is timely and relevant, we focus on your most recent conversations during Discussions.
In Discussion sessions, you¡¯ll learn how to craft an educated opinion and express it civilly to peers from around the globe. We encourage you to attend upcoming sessions so we can help you develop your communication skills further.
This week¡¯s theme is ¡°Fair Play.¡± In games, fairness means both teams have the same opportunity to succeed. In discussions, there are no teams. But there can still be fairness. As part of this week¡¯s conversation, students will work to make sure all their team members have the opportunity to contribute.
As always, there are no right or wrong answers. But even so, there should be a fair chance for everyone to share their opinions.
Anyone who's on the path toward becoming a Supercollaborator is able to keep improving their skills and making course corrections. We look forward to seeing you at future Play + Discussion sessions, and we'll continue giving you feedback on your teamwork and communication skills.
