Monthly Feedback Report for Charley
For the first time ever, teams can earn the prestigious
BNI (Batteries Not Included) Expert Challenge this week. It's the last map in the playlist, and it's tough.
The bigger question is about effective teamwork, especially when the stakes are high. Can a team reach the highest level if they are missing team cohesion?
Beyond the game, what are your personal goals for this week?
Be sure to check out the
Synthesis Mission Brief
for more details.

You¡¯ve been around Synthesis Teams for a while, so you know that good teamwork means more than just participating in the game and communicating with your teammates.
It involves cooperative planning, coordinating roles, and shared decision-making. It¡¯s about including everyone and checking in on progress toward the team¡¯s goals.
This month, we¡¯ll take a closer look at these important aspects of teamwork as we examine your
goal-oriented collaboration skills.
Charley, here's what we observed about your teamwork skills during Play: One thing you did especially well was acknowledging when something may have gone wrong, like when you said, "Sorry about that, I want to get a little bit panicky," which shows a great understanding of team dynamics and harmony. It's really important for keeping the team together and cohesive. You also did a great job offering a plan by saying "Try to go for a two-pointer," which shows you're thinking about strategy and how to reach the team's goals. A next step could be volunteering more actively in strategic planning and determining roles. Asking your teammates, ¡°What do you think we should try next?¡± or giving suggestions like ¡°I can try this part while you handle that,¡± can make our plans more united. How does this contribute to effective teamwork? It helps everyone know their role and work towards a shared goal even better! Keep up the good work and keep practicing deciding roles to make your teamwork even stronger!
Observations based on your participation in Play sessions in 1 of the past 4 weeks.
On your journey to make any team you join better, you'll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways.
Last week's theme was
"Athena vs. Demeter." What matters more: stability or ambition? Students explored this timeless question using two ancient Greek archetypes: Demeter and Athena. The ¡°Demeter Path¡± represents focusing on essentials like food and self-reliance, while the ¡°Athena Path¡± pushes for innovation and future goals. Which path did your student choose for the city of Thebes? The scenarios may be set two thousand years ago, but the concepts echo through history ¡ª even today.
No right or wrong answers. Just interesting conversations with kids from around the world.
Communication in Discussions Sessions
Speaking % in Charley's Discussion session last week.
Reflection for Charley: Does the communication in your team room show that everyone has an opportunity to speak?
Productive communication and effective teamwork go hand in hand. Because you were unable to attend a Discussion session last week, we can¡¯t provide a current analysis of your strengths and areas for growth in your communication skills. To ensure our feedback is timely and relevant, we focus on your most recent conversations during Discussions.
In Discussion sessions, you¡¯ll learn how to craft an educated opinion and express it civilly to peers from around the globe. We encourage you to attend upcoming sessions so we can help you develop your communication skills further.
This week¡¯s theme is ¡°All About You.¡± One element of highly-effective teams is cohesion, how well the team sticks together. This week, rather than talk ¡°about¡± cohesion, we give teams experience with it. How? By asking them to talk about themselves. Synthesis students are great at thinking, at strategizing, and at analyzing ¡ª but sometimes, the best thing a team can do is just get to know each other.
