Decisions have consequences. That¡¯s easy to understand. What¡¯s harder is anticipating and responding to the
consequences that are more hidden. This week, Proxima scenarios will include ¡°hidden benefits¡± ¡ª but are they worth the cost of investigation? It¡¯s something teams will have to navigate and discuss.

You¡¯ve been around Synthesis Teams for a while, so you know that good teamwork means more than just participating in the game and communicating with your teammates.
It involves cooperative planning, coordinating roles, and shared decision-making. It¡¯s about including everyone and checking in on progress toward the team¡¯s goals.
This month, we¡¯ll take a closer look at these important aspects of teamwork as we examine your
goal-oriented collaboration skills.
Zunqi, here's what we observed about your teamwork skills during recent game sessions: You showed considerable strength in motivating your teammates and identifying immediate needs, as evidenced by your comments like, ¡°Guys, we need another battery!¡± and strategic suggestions, such as contributing ideas about resource management and redirecting the team's focus. Your enthusiasm in rallying the team and ensuring tasks are completed kept the group energized and goal-focused. To enhance your teamwork skills further, consider fostering more shared decision-making by involving teammates in strategic planning rather than primarily issuing directives or reacting to immediate needs. How does this contribute to effective teamwork? It helps ensure everyone is aligned and contributes to a more cohesive strategy. Keep building on your strengths while opening up opportunities for more collaborative discussions to align team efforts better!
Observations based on your participation in game sessions in 4 of the past 4 weeks
On your journey to make any team you join better, you'll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways.
Last week's theme was
"Supercollaborator Training." To graduate as a Supercollaborator is the highest honor at Synthesis. After a final interview, students receive a personal letter of recommendation from our co-founders to bring to any job interview or school application. It¡¯s not easy ¡ª consider it a black belt in collaborative problem-solving. Last week was a training session: six scenarios from the world of Synthesis. How would a supercollaborator work through them?
No right or wrong answers; just interesting conversations with kids from around the world.
Communication in Discussions Sessions
Speaking % in Zunqi's Discussion session last week.
Reflection for Zunqi: How does your speaking % compare to others in your group?
Zunqi, here¡¯s what we noticed about your communication during last week¡¯s Discussion session: One thing you did especially well was articulating your thoughts clearly when discussing strategies, such as when you said, "I'll do like I would like to see..." This shows your willingness to share your ideas, which is important in team discussions. Another positive aspect is your ability to keep the conversation connected by building on ongoing topics, like when you added, "because like the third one...". To keep building your skills, you might try acknowledging your teammates' ideas more often by using their names during discussions. This can help enhance your connection with the group and make your contributions even more impactful!
Anyone who's on the path toward becoming a Supercollaborator is able to keep improving their skills and making course corrections. We look forward to seeing you at future sessions, and we'll continue giving you feedback on your teamwork and communication skills.
