Dorathy's most recent reflection achievement
Competition can cause two main outcomes: it can increase a team¡¯s drive and efficiency, or it increase a team¡¯s emotions and conflicts. Coaches will be looking for how teams handle mistakes, how they support each other through victories and losses, and how they manage their reactions to conflict. Your planet may not take the Proxima Prize this week, but if you practice these skills for 60 minutes, that¡¯s 100% a win.

You¡¯ve been around Synthesis Teams for a while, so you know that good teamwork means more than just participating in the game and communicating with your teammates.
It involves cooperative planning, coordinating roles, and shared decision-making. It¡¯s about including everyone and checking in on progress toward the team¡¯s goals.
This month, we¡¯ll take a closer look at these important aspects of teamwork as we examine your
goal-oriented collaboration skills.
Dorathy, here's what we observed about your teamwork skills during recent game sessions: You excelled in maintaining focus on the team's goals by frequently identifying key objectives, such as when you mentioned the need for resources with "We need everything. We need everything," and encouraged teammates with, "I come here to help you." These illustrate your strong focus on what¡¯s important for team success. Another area you shined in is assigning roles and responding to team needs, as seen when you asked, "Who wants to craft batteries?" demonstrating your proactive approach to helping the team organize and tackle tasks efficiently. A next step for growth could be to engage more in strategic discussions, contributing ideas for how to achieve the team¡¯s objectives collectively and enhancing your involvement in planning. Why is this important? Strategic planning not only strengthens the team¡¯s overall effectiveness but also enhances your leadership skills. By practicing this, you will encourage others and further enrich your teamwork abilities.
Observations based on your participation in game sessions in 4 of the past 4 weeks
On your journey to make any team you join better, you'll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways.
Last week's theme was
"Hidden Costs." Every decision carries a hidden risk. Do you confront or stay silent? Lead or listen? Innovate or play it safe? The right choice isn¡¯t always obvious ¡ª but the wrong one has consequences. In life, leadership, and learning, trade-offs shape everything. So it isn¡¯t just what you choose; it¡¯s also what you sacrifice.

Reflection for Dorathy: What's the best way to encourage balanced communication in Discussions?
Dorathy, here¡¯s what we noticed about your communication during last week¡¯s Discussion session: One thing you did especially well was acknowledging your teammates by saying "Yeah" after their exchanges, which really helped keep the conversation respectful and friendly. Another great thing we saw was when you shared longer thoughts, like when you said, "I think I will choose the number 2 because if you leave the new student alone, I think he will be seriously lonely." That added valuable insights to the discussion. To keep building your skills, you might try including more questions next time. Engaging teammates by asking for their thoughts can make the conversation even more dynamic and keep everyone involved!
Anyone who's on the path toward becoming a Supercollaborator is able to keep improving their skills and making course corrections. We look forward to seeing you at future sessions, and we'll continue giving you feedback on your teamwork and communication skills.
