Hi Charley,

On the journey to make any team you¡¯re on better, you¡¯ll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Last week, the session asked you to make thoughtful decisions on policies regarding employee satisfaction and remote work policies. You were introduced to the actual challenges that companies such as Best Buy and Goldman Sachs have encountered. How did your choices compare to the solutions implemented by these real-world companies?

Here¡¯s some feedback on how you used your voice in the Discussion Sessions you attended last week:

Communication Analysis
Charley, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication abilities.

You generally express your ideas clearly and understandably. However, there were also moments when you interjected sounds or off-topic remarks into the discussion. It's important to ensure that your comments stay focused on the topic at hand to keep the discussion moving forward.

In terms of active listening, it's great to see that you acknowledge the responses from your teammates and try to coordinate the session's next steps. For instance, when you said "Hey next time, when we are all done, tell your answers so we can see." This shows that you are paying attention to what others are saying and trying to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to contribute. Keep up the active listening and continue to engage with your teammates' ideas.

When it comes to effective questioning, there are instances where you ask questions that show potential for deepening the conversation. For example, when discussing incentive programs, you asked "Well, they are giving them reasonable jobs that you need to finish. They are giving that, right?" This type of question can generate interesting discussions and encourage your teammates to share their thoughts and experiences. Keep working on connecting your questions to the discussion topic to make them more effective.

Overall, Charley, your communication skills show a good foundation in terms of active listening and asking questions. To further improve your skills, be mindful of refraining from using nonsense words or distracting sounds that can take the focus off the topic. Additionally, you can continue to ask questions that help move the conversation forward and involve everyone. Keep up the good work!
Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. After reading your feedback, come up with 1 main, specific goal of how you¡¯ll improve your communication in this week's Discussion Sessions. Feel free to reply to this email and let us know what that goal is. This week, you will be asked to rank various options based on an analysis of the costs and benefits of 5 scenarios. If you attend, we¡¯ll give you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice after incorporating this email¡¯s insights.

If your parent or guardian has any thoughts on this email, tell them they can fill out this 1-minute survey to keep on improving our session feedback.
