Communication Analysis
Lufei, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication abilities.

In terms of speaking clearly and getting to the point, you've shown that you can join in on group conversations with a light-hearted touch. While it¡¯s great to add some fun to the discussions, staying focused on the main topics will help make your points more clear and impactful. At times, your contributions started down an interesting path but could benefit from further development. For instance, you began discussing genetics with the comment, "I think it's like it's going to recreate new genes." This is a good start, but making sure to finish your thoughts will undoubtedly strengthen your contributions.

Your responses to teammates show that you're listening¡ªsimple affirmations like "Yeah" indicate politeness and seem to acknowledge what others are saying. While this is a positive aspect of your communication, engaging more deeply with others¡¯ ideas by referencing specific points they've made would demonstrate a stronger connection to their contributions. As for your questioning aptitude, while questions such as "Do any of you have a pet?" show curiosity and a desire to connect with others, focusing questions to align more with the discussion at hand could help lead the group to more profound insights. There are opportunities to use questions as a tool to delve deeper into the topics being discussed.

While you've shown some inclination towards empathy by expressing interest in your peers¡¯ lives, this could be extended further by connecting their personal experiences back into the flow of the conversation. This creates a more inclusive environment where everyone's perspectives enhance the group¡¯s understanding of the content. In addition, actively incorporating your teammates¡¯ viewpoints into your responses can help foster a more empathetic and engaging discussion dynamic. Keep in mind that thanking your peers is polite, but expanding on your gratitude with specific feedback or related thoughts can illustrate a deeper level of understanding and appreciation for their contributions.

Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. We look forward to seeing you at future Discussion Sessions and we¡¯ll continue giving you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice.
