Hi Wei,

On the journey to make any team you¡¯re on better, you¡¯ll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion Sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways. Last week, you considered real-world scenarios from the worlds of business, science, literature, and art. For each scenario, you debated the question, 'Was their success due to good luck, or was it the result of hard work and talent?'

Here¡¯s some feedback on how you used your voice in the Discussion Sessions you attended:

Communication Analysis
Wei, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication abilities.

In your recent sessions, you demonstrated a willingness to express your thoughts, though sometimes you may struggle with delivering them concisely. For example, your statement, ¡°Hmm... Okay, I'm not sure how to say this,¡± shows self-awareness about your ability to articulate your thoughts but also indicates room for improvement in clarity. You have made comments such as ¡°Yeah, actually writing a good book is really hard. And you need a lot of skill for that,¡± which are clear and convey your recognition of the complexity of certain tasks. Yet, there are moments where your message becomes less clear. Focusing on refining the presentation of your ideas will make your input even more valuable to the group.

Regarding your engagement with others, you show responsiveness and contribute readily, which is positive. Your reaction, "because like if that scientist didn't spot it, we will not use it and not make posts it,¡± reflects active participation and consideration of your teammates' insights.

Your inclination to acknowledge group dynamics is clear. You show elements of perspective-taking, particularly when considering the role of luck in success with remarks such as, ¡°I guess it's a little bit more luck.¡± To continue growing in this area, articulating a deeper understanding of your teammates' perspectives and directly referencing their emotions and views would demonstrate stronger empathy and connection. Overall, your active attempts to engage and question effectively are commendable, and with some refinement, your communication skills will continue to develop positively.

Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. We look forward to seeing you at future Discussion Sessions and we¡¯ll continue giving you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice.
