Hi Evan,

On the journey to make any team you¡¯re on better, you¡¯ll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion Sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways. Last week, you stepped into the shoes of decision-makers in science, environmental policy, urban development. You were faced with tough choices in which all of the options were bad. How did you decide which option does the least harm?

Here¡¯s some feedback on how you used your voice in the Discussion Sessions you attended:

Communication Analysis
Evan, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication abilities.

In terms of expressing yourself clearly, there's some inconsistency. You had moments when your points were made succinctly, as with, ¡°Cancer research because cancer already do to human bodies many like many harms,¡± but there were also times when your messages became fragmented. Compared to the previous week where your statements sometimes lacked context, it appears there's room to enhance the clarity of your messages by providing more detailed explanations. This practice will help ensure your teammates can follow and engage with your ideas effectively.

Listening and engaging with your teammates has been varied. While you show a basic level of engagement with general statements and questions, evidence of active listening, such as reflecting on or expanding upon others' contributions, seems less prominent. This is a slight change from the previous week, where you acknowledged a peer's idea. Making an effort to respond more directly to what your peers share could enhance your contribution to group discussions.

Finally, regarding the tone of your contributions, while it seems you aim to participate pragmatically, as seen in your statement "I think we'll be cut down art because art doesn't do anything," it's important to balance practical opinions with understanding different viewpoints. Although this pragmatic approach can be effective in some contexts, displaying a tone that acknowledges and respects a variety of perspectives will foster a more inclusive and empathetic environment. Remember, effective communication is not only about making oneself understood but also about understanding and valuing the contributions of others.

Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. We look forward to seeing you at future Discussion Sessions and we¡¯ll continue giving you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice.
