Hi Charley,

On the journey to make any team you¡¯re on better, you¡¯ll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion Sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways. Last week, you discussed the central conflict of altruism: balancing self-interest with the greater good. How far should you go to help others?

Here¡¯s some feedback on how you used your voice in the Discussion Sessions you attended:

Communication Analysis
Charley, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication abilities.

Your ability to communicate your ideas has been evident in the sessions. For instance, your clear expression of a scenario using an analogy, "And you may just crash into that question and that guy will go try to kidnap you if he really wanted to kidnap you," showcases your ability to articulate thoughts in a way that relates to real-world situations. However, clarity can be enhanced if you provide additional context to your points. In the previous analysis, we noted the strength of your storytelling and its relevance to the topics discussed - maintaining this connection between your examples and the topic will support your continued growth in communicating effectively.

In terms of engaging with your peers, your active listening is demonstrated when you provide direct responses, like "You also have to focus on your own stuff," suggesting you are considering your teammates' perspectives. Nonetheless, this could be fortified by consistently ensuring your responses are relevant to the immediate conversation topics, avoiding unintended shifts in focus as was the case when you mentioned monetary loss in a discussion about phone use while driving. Comparatively, there has been an improvement in building upon the dialogue, reflected in the progress from the previous sessions where your responses often comprised simple agreements. Continuing to interact with the content of your peers' contributions will reflect a deeper level of active participation.

Your questioning abilities appear to support deeper discussion, with thoughtful inquiries such as, "Is this something your group should all agree on?" Evoking further thought and discussion among peers is a skill that was previously recognized and remains a strength. When it comes to empathy and perspective-taking, you show a willingness to consider varied actions based on different scenarios, evidenced by your statement, "So, depending on the situation, if you're a coach, then you can do high-off rhythm." This indicates an understanding of the importance of context, mirroring progress from the earlier sessions where your expression of concern about financial impacts on others highlighted your empathetic approach. Continuously practicing these skills with conscious effort will undoubtedly enhance your communication abilities even further.

Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. We look forward to seeing you at future Discussion Sessions and we¡¯ll continue giving you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice.
