Hi Yueyi,

On the journey to make any team you¡¯re on better, you¡¯ll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion Sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways. Last week, you discussed the central conflict of altruism: balancing self-interest with the greater good. How far should you go to help others?

Here¡¯s some feedback on how you used your voice in the Discussion Sessions you attended:

Communication Analysis
Yueyi, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication abilities.

In your discussions, you often use clear language to express your opinions. For instance, you stated, "If you always gonna drive that car, then if you just pull over the side then it's not very good I think so," which articulates a clear stance. However, sometimes your messages might benefit from more direct and concise language. Striving for straightforward sentences could help in making your point more effective. Comparing this to a previous session, it is challenging to track progress in your clarity due to the limited amount you spoke before. Encouragingly, we now have some examples of your thoughts, but working on making your points more direct will help your teammates understand you better.

In terms of engaging in the conversation, it appears that you are attentive, but showing that you are following the chat actively could be improved. Unlike the previous session where your participation was minimal, you are now contributing more, yet we still lack evidence of deeper engagement. To demonstrate that you are really listening, you could try summarizing what your teammates say or responding directly to their comments. Moreover, asking thoughtful questions can also be a strong way to show engagement and would be a new area for you to explore, as the current session does not display your questioning abilities.

Lastly, you've shown that you can take different perspectives into account, like when you said, "I must choose medium but if I got money I can choose high." This acknowledgment of situational factors shows that you consider various viewpoints. However, showing understanding or connection to your peers' feelings would further highlight your empathetic capabilities, which weren't fully showcased in the latest session. As your participation increases, we look forward to seeing more of this. Keep on sharing your thoughts and viewpoints, and with increased directness and engagement, your communication skills can only grow stronger.

Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. We look forward to seeing you at future Discussion Sessions and we¡¯ll continue giving you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice.
