Hi Lufei,

On the journey to make any team you¡¯re on better, you¡¯ll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion Sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways. Last week, you considered the question: 'What matters most?' From balancing ethics and profits in the business world to ensuring safety while confronting bullies, you were asked to rank your priorities. No right or wrong answers; just interesting conversations with kids from around the world.

Here¡¯s some feedback on how you used your voice in the Discussion Sessions you attended:

Communication Analysis
Lufei, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication abilities.

In terms of presenting your ideas clearly and in an understandable way, you have moments where you communicate effectively. This showed you can pinpoint a subject briefly and precisely. However, we noticed that your thoughts sometimes wander into less related areas. While your enthusiasm is appreciated, focusing on delivering one idea at a time can help maintain your peers' attention and make sure they grasp your points. You demonstrate that you can listen well within the group by reflecting on what others are saying, like when you harmonized with the sentiment, ¡°Yeah, family is very important.¡± This is a sign that you hear and consider the words of your teammates. To take this further, try to show a deeper understanding of their points of view, which will enrich your participation and the overall discussion.

As for demonstrating empathy and trying to see things from your peers' perspectives, sharing personal anecdotes like you do shows you are trying to connect with others by sharing your experiences. However, this approach could overshadow the chance to really grasp and discuss others' views, which is a crucial part of group communication. To improve, it may help to balance your personal stories with active interest in your peers' experiences and ideas. As you keep taking part in group discussions, Lufei, consider how you can incorporate this balance to craft more meaningful exchanges and foster a collaborative conversation environment.

Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. We look forward to seeing you at future Discussion Sessions and we¡¯ll continue giving you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice.
