Hi Sichu,

On the journey to make any team you¡¯re on better, you¡¯ll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion Sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways. Last week, we challenged you to find the root of the issues. Rather than taking a position on a scenario, students decided on the essential question at the heart of each one. No right or wrong answers, just interesting conversations with kids from around the world.

Here¡¯s some feedback on how you used your voice in the Discussion Sessions you attended:

Communication Analysis
Sichu, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication abilities.

Firstly, in terms of expressing your thoughts clearly and with enough detail, there seems to be room for improvement. Your style tends to be quite concise, which is beneficial in keeping discussions brisk. However, your contributions can sometimes be too brief, making it difficult for teammates to grasp your full meaning. For instance, phrases like "yeah 50 first," come across as unclear. It would help to expand on your thoughts a bit more. In the previous session where you spoke minimally, this week¡¯s contributions such as, ¡°Um, First, we don't know what is this, second, I think these change the DNA,¡± showed an attempt at providing more structured communication, but could still benefit from clearer articulation.

Regarding your engagement with teammates, you do an admirable job of acknowledging their viewpoints; however, extending your responses beyond short affirmations could enrich the conversations. Actively responding to others¡¯ ideas by adding your own insights or connecting their ideas back to the group's objectives could demonstrate deeper engagement. From the feedback in your previous weekly analysis, there was a note about your limited participation. Your improved input in the subsequent sessions, though still concise, indicates a positive shift in your engagement.

Lastly, your questioning can spark curiosity and reflection among your peers, like when you mentioned, ¡°We even don't know what is in space.¡± Enhancing the detail and depth of your questions could further this impact. Also, showing more explicit understanding of your teammates' perspectives or elaborating on how their input connects with your thoughts could cultivate a more inclusive and empathetic conversation environment. We encourage you to build on this element of your communication to foster a richer and more collaborative group dynamic.

Continued focus on these aspects can enhance your contributions to group discussions and reflect a greater depth of understanding and engagement with your teammates. We look forward to seeing your development in these areas.

Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. We look forward to seeing you at future Discussion Sessions and we¡¯ll continue giving you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice.
