Hi Andrew,

On the journey to make any team you¡¯re on better, you¡¯ll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion Sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways. Last week, you explored conflict resolution. Conflicts and disagreements are unavoidable in life, so what's the best way to respond to them? Can there always be a "win-win" compromise? No right or wrong answers, just interesting conversations with kids from around the world.

Here¡¯s some feedback on how you used your voice in the Discussion Sessions you attended:

Communication Analysis
Andrew, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication abilities.

In terms of expressing your thoughts clearly, you've shown instances of both effectiveness and ambiguity. For instance, your comment, "Camping sounds like a lot of fun," clearly conveys your enjoyment in a manner directly relevant to the discussion's theme. However, there are moments where the relevance and context of your statement were unclear, potentially puzzling your peers. Enhancing your ability to offer more detailed explanations could, therefore, help in maintaining clarity and making your contributions more impactful.

On active listening and interactive engagement, your responses such as "That's true!" show that you are attentive and value what your teammates have to say. This aspect of your communication has remained consistent, as noted in past analyses where you have used phrases like "What do you guys think?" to encourage discussion. However, moving beyond brief affirmations to provide more substantive, tailored responses could further your contributions to conversations. Steps forward could include expounding on why you agree or offering a related idea or question that forwards the dialogue. This could make discussions more enriching for both you and your peers.

Your use of questions and empathetic engagement also shows areas for growth. You have yet to harness the full power of questioning as a tool to deepen conversations or display understanding of diverse viewpoints. For example, incorporating questions that require more than a yes/no answer could invite richer exchanges and show a deeper empathy towards your peers' perspectives. Comparatively, from previous feedback, there's a noted consistency in your approach but also a continuous room for enhancement in discussing more openly and empathetically. By integrating these elements more effectively into your interactions, you can foster a more inclusive and dynamic dialogue environment, aiding in not just understanding others but also being understood more completely.

Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. We look forward to seeing you at future Discussion Sessions and we¡¯ll continue giving you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice.
