Hi Zhuo,

On the journey to make any team you¡¯re on better, you¡¯ll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion Sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways. Last week, you practiced examining two sides of an idea: the point and the counterpoint. Good thinkers weigh counterpoints to their own ideas to make sure that all sides are considered. Did your points hold up to their counterpoints? No right or wrong answers, just interesting conversations with kids from around the world.

Here¡¯s some feedback on how you used your voice in the Discussion Sessions you attended:

Communication Analysis
Zhuo, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication abilities.

Firstly, while you express your ideas spontaneously, there seems to be room for improvement in how you organize and articulate these thoughts. For example, you stated, "I think it's boost confidence because I choose...the students like the project and will do better." This sentence appears somewhat disjointed, which might confuse your peers about your point. Focusing on structuring your sentences more clearly could increase the effectiveness of your communication. Additionally, it¡¯s great to see you responding promptly to your teammates during discussions, like when you affirmed with "Yes, you do." This shows your attentiveness and engagement in the session. However, further development in reflecting upon what is being discussed could enhance the depth and relevance of your contributions.

In the previous week, we noted your participation was quite minimal, limiting our ability to analyze your communication style comprehensively. It's encouraging to see some increase in your involvement this week. Continuously engaging in the discussions will not only help you refine your communication skills but also provide us with more insights to better support your development. Increasing your input can be as simple as asking more questions to delve deeper into the discussion topics or showing more curiosity about your peers¡¯ viewpoints.

Regarding the tone and empathy, you maintained a neutral tone which helps in keeping the discussion environment calm and inclusive. However, actively demonstrating empathy or understanding towards your peers' feelings and viewpoints could foster a more supportive atmosphere. For instance, phrases that show you are considering their perspectives or acknowledging their feelings can make a big difference. This form of communication not only aids in building stronger relationships with your peers but also improves the overall dynamic of the group discussions.

Overall, Zhuo, continuing to build on your responsive engagement and working on a more coherent expression of your thoughts would likely see you making even more meaningful contributions in future sessions. Engage more actively and consider the impact of not just listening, but also how you express understanding and pose questions that provoke thoughtful discussion.

Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. We look forward to seeing you at future Discussion Sessions and we¡¯ll continue giving you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice.
