Hi Evan,

On the journey to make any team you¡¯re on better, you¡¯ll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion Sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways. Last week, you practiced thinking ahead to achieve positive solutions to real-life problems. Lasting solutions require multiple steps, so you needed to discuss the through-lines to choose the best path to reach the desired solution. How did you do? No right or wrong answers, just interesting conversations with kids from around the world.

Here¡¯s some feedback on how you used your voice in the Discussion Sessions you attended:

Communication Analysis
Evan, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication abilities.

In terms of clarity and conciseness, your contributions show a mix of clear and fragmented thoughts. For example, while you delivered clear directions by saying, "Let's give it a shot now," there were moments when your ideas became less cohesive, such as when you stated, "And a little bit of roadblocks." This indicates that there is room for improvement by organizing your thoughts more effectively before speaking. Consistently aiming to provide context and clarity in your statements will enhance your overall communication.

Regarding active listening, you display some positive signs but there is room for deeper engagement. Phrases like "Yeah, this is a good idea," indicate that you acknowledge your peers¡¯ inputs, but simpler responses such as "Okay" sometimes lack depth and do not fully engage with the speaker's content. More detailed follow-ups and feedback would demonstrate a more thorough consideration of the discussions.

In terms of empathy and perspective-taking, your respectful tone is commendable, but further developing this skill will contribute significantly to your communication. By asking questions that explore your peers' feelings and viewpoints, you can foster a more inclusive and collaborative atmosphere. Working on these areas will not only help you understand your teammates better but also elevate the overall dynamics of your group discussions.

Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. We look forward to seeing you at future Discussion Sessions and we¡¯ll continue giving you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice.
