Hi Zhuo,

On the journey to make any team you¡¯re on better, you¡¯ll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion Sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways. Last week, you practiced thinking ahead to achieve positive solutions to real-life problems. Lasting solutions require multiple steps, so you needed to discuss the through-lines to choose the best path to reach the desired solution. How did you do? No right or wrong answers, just interesting conversations with kids from around the world.

Here¡¯s some feedback on how you used your voice in the Discussion Sessions you attended:

Communication Analysis
Zhuo, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication abilities.

Firstly, your communication is often clear, though sometimes brief which can be efficient for group tasks. For instance, specific instructions help your teammates understand what needs to be done. This direct approach is a strength as it aids in completing tasks swiftly. Nonetheless, there is room for improvement in structuring your thoughts for greater clarity. Working on clearly organizing your sentences could make your points more understandable to your peers.

Additionally, you exhibit attentive listening and make meaningful contributions to the conversation which shows engagement. You build on your teammates' points effectively, as seen when you remarked, ¡°I actually put a yellow and blue one¡± after others discussed their choices. This indicates that you are paying attention and are involved in the discussion. However, an area for growth is in asking questions that delve deeper into the topic. Most of your contributions are instructions or statements rather than questions that could enrich the dialogue. Engaging more through curiosity about your peers¡¯ viewpoints and asking more follow-up questions can significantly enhance group discussions.

Lastly, regarding empathy and tone, you maintain a neutral tone which helps to keep a calm and inclusive discussion environment. Yet, there is limited evidence of you engaging deeply in empathetic interactions or perspective-taking. Actively demonstrating understanding towards your peers' feelings and viewpoints could foster a more supportive atmosphere. Using phrases that acknowledge their perspectives can make a big difference, improving group dynamics and relationships. Continuing to build on your responsive engagement while working on expressing empathy and posing thought-provoking questions will see you making even more meaningful contributions in future sessions.

Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. We look forward to seeing you at future Discussion Sessions and we¡¯ll continue giving you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice.
