Hi Lufei,

On the journey to make any team you¡¯re on better, you¡¯ll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion Sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways. Last week, you discussed the conflict at the heart of any negotiation: How much should you reveal, and how much should you conceal? From sports to friendships to international diplomacy, students considered the best way to negotiate in different scenarios. No right or wrong answers, just interesting conversations with kids from around the world.

Here¡¯s some feedback on how you used your voice in the Discussion Sessions you attended:

Communication Analysis
Lufei, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication skills.

Firstly, your ability to convey your ideas clearly is evident and sets a solid foundation for effective communication. Statements like, ¡°I definitely don't think I would say yes unless I know exactly what my children are going to do,¡± showcase how well you articulate your thoughts.

Your active listening skills are noticeable and beneficial to group discussions. For instance, your comment, "Yeah, share your financial need. Keep your other offers confidential," demonstrates that you are responding to and building on your teammates' ideas, indicating you are paying attention.

Finally, your empathy and consideration for others' perspectives show a strong level of social awareness. Your concern for privacy, shown in the statement, "Of course you need to be honest. Does being confidential really benefit you?" indicates you are mindful of others' feelings. Consistently acknowledging and integrating your peers¡¯ viewpoints can further promote an inclusive atmosphere. Consider frequently initiating questions that explore your teammates' emotions and perspectives to enhance group cohesion and understanding even more.

You have a strong foundation of communication skills, Lufei, and with some refinement, you can become an even more effective and empathetic communicator in your group discussions!

Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. We look forward to seeing you at future Discussion Sessions and we¡¯ll continue giving you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice.
