Hi Lufei,

On the journey to make any team you¡¯re on better, you¡¯ll practice how to effectively communicate with everyone. Our Discussion Sessions are carefully designed to provide opportunities for you to practice these critical communication skills in various ways.

Last week, you examined scenarios in which small changes can make or break the end result. In Synthesis and in the real world, what small change can have the biggest impact? No right or wrong answers, just interesting conversations with kids from around the world.

Here¡¯s some feedback on how you used your voice in the Discussion Sessions you attended:

Communication Analysis
Lufei, during the recent Discussion sessions we made some observations we would like to share with you about your communication skills.

Your ability to communicate clearly is a significant strength. For example, you said, "Yeah, I also think the middle one,¡± which shows that you can present your ideas concisely and understandably. However, providing more context or reasoning behind your contributions could help your peers follow your thoughts even better.

Your active listening skills came through strongly during the sessions. You actively engaged and responded to your teammates' ideas, as seen in your comment, ¡°Yeah, good points.¡± This shows you are paying attention and synthesizing the group's contributions. To enhance this further, try to incorporate others' exact words or ideas in your responses more frequently, which can solidify the group's understanding and show appreciation for their contributions.

In terms of providing evidence-based arguments, you did well by grounding your points in personal experiences and logical thinking. For instance, you mentioned, ¡°Because health is very important to me and I got sick very easily.¡± This statement clearly shows how your personal experiences shape your views, adding depth to the discussion. To build on this, you might explore backing up your points with more variety, such as facts or examples, to strengthen your arguments even further.

You have a solid foundation in communication skills, Lufei. By adding more context to your statements and actively incorporating others' ideas, you can become an even more effective communicator in your group discussions!

Anyone who knows how to make any team they¡¯re on better is able to keep improving their skills and correcting their errors. We look forward to seeing you at future Discussion Sessions and we¡¯ll continue giving you feedback on how you¡¯ve progressed in using your voice.
