The Polis Prize challenged each of the three Synthesis planets to have over 521 winning players last week. Not one single planet did this. That’s because they all did. Thoughout the sessions, we saw examples of students reaching back to help their teammates become more effective (see video for more).

But we can’t split the Polis Prize into thirds, so we’re adding a tiebreaker week to see how teams react in multi-team Polis. Last week, students attempted to make their teammates into effective Polis strategists. This week, they’ll test how well it worked.

Discussions

Agree to Disagree

Conflicts and disagreements are unavoidable in Polis, in Synthesis, and in life. In this week’s Discussion session, students engage in conversation about the best way to resolve them. Could there be a “win-win” compromise? Should they agree to disagree? Maybe a third party could help mediate the situation?

Not only will students be evaluating these fictional scenarios, but they’ll also be thinking about how they respond to conflict in their own lives. After this session, students will have a foundational vocabulary for conflict resolution as well as a recognition of their own process.
